(Third photo thumbnail above) The key, flash and sphinx symbolize the three basic categories of intelligence:  human, signal, and tactical.  The flaming torch between the crossed swords of the crest suggest the illumination as provided by intelligence upon the field of battle.  Oriental blue and silver gray are the colors associated with the Military Intelligence Corps.  The motto “ALWAYS OUT FRONT” reflects the forward location in gathering intelligence information.  The regimental insignia was originally approved for wear on July 28, 1986, but was revised on March 24, 1987 to change the sphinx from enamel to recessed and gold plated.
